Overview

The University of Ruhuna Faculty of Medicine is located in Galle, Sri Lanka. Established in 1978, the Faculty of Medicine began its medical program in 1980. It offers a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing), Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm), Master’s programs in health sciences (e.g., Master in Public Health, Master in Medical Sciences), and PhD programs in health sciences. It is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Sri Lanka and recognized by the Sri Lanka Medical Council (SLMC) and the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS).

– MBBS: Approximately LKR 1,000,000-1,500,000 per year (for local students); USD 10,000-15,000 per year (for international students).
– BSc Nursing: Approximately LKR 200,000-300,000 per year (for local students); USD 2,000-3,000 per year (for international students).
– BPharm: Approximately LKR 200,000-300,000 per year (for local students); USD 2,000-3,000 per year (for international students).

Application Requirements

Prospective students must meet the following requirements:
– GCE Advanced Level (A/L) qualifications with strong performance in science subjects (biology, chemistry, physics).
– Proficiency in English (language test scores may be required for non-native speakers).
– Submission of academic transcripts, letters of recommendation, and a personal statement.
– Entrance examination or interview (depending on the program).
